Edited by John Podgorski BA Hons, MSc, CMILT.

Welcome to the June 2019 edition of Busmopolitan.

It has been confirmed that all of First UK Bus is now up for sale. Arriva Bus is likewise. It will be interesting to see the destinies of the local companies from these groups.
In the skies, there were two “emergency landings” at Stansted during June. One involved a carrier familiar to the area, Jet2, but the other produced a much more exotic visitor – from Air India.

AIR INDIA.
Not normally seen in the Busmopolitan area, except possibly in transcontinental cruise at 33 000 feet. However, on 27/6/19 a Boeing 777 on a Mumbai- Newark (USA) service made an emergency landing at Stansted, following a bomb scare. This turned out to be a hoax. The flight was turned over the Irish Sea and then escorted by two RAF Typhoon fighter jets to the diversionary airfield. A “supersonic boom” was reported over Alfreton, Derbyshire. (‘Trent Barton land, rather than Busmopolitan land’).
