Welcome to the February 2016 edition of Busmopolitan.
On 7/2/16, a former Metroline Dennis Trident/Plaxton President, was “blown up” on (a specially closed) Lambeth Bridge in London, as a stunt for the Jackie Chan film ‘Foreigner’. Lack of communication by the production company, meant not enough information was in circulation to prevent alarm and distress to some parties.
Extreme weather on Monday 8th February caused headaches for bus providers around Thurrock; due to closure of the Dartford Bridge. More details in the Ensignbus section.
Townlink of Harlow ceased operations after service on Friday 26th February, 2016; as its Operators Licence was revoked from that midnight. Its routes have passed to other operators.

2 thoughts on “Busmopolitan – Essex and District Bus and Rail News Page – February 2016.”
Hi John, may I say how much I enjoy receiving and reading Busmopolitan. Although I live in Bognor Regis I come up to Essex now and again to visit my son and his family in Wickford, also pass through on my way up to Norwich to visit my daughter. I have a query concerning Stansted Airport. Whilst there on Sunday I noticed a couple of car park shuttles in use, but I was unable to identify the operator, or tie up previous registrations. The vehicles were R500 SLA and N800 SLA (SA19). I would be grateful for any help you could offer with this query.BRgdsJohn Johnson
The vehicles (Mb Citaros) you saw at Stansted Airport are operated by National Express (NX).
They have registrations N800 LSA ex KX 58 GTY and R500 LSA ex KX 58 GUA.
They only work within the airport precincts, but go outside to Mercedes at Start Hill for maintenance, (near the NX depot).
Delighted you enjoy ‘Busmopolitan’ and I am also now the editor and publisher of ‘Bus Fayre’, although the next issue of that won’t be appearing until early summer.
